I’ll begin this post by quoting Martin Niemoller, a German pastor in the 1930′s who was sent to the death camps by the Nazi’s…
“They came for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for me and by that time there was no one left to speak up.”
Lest you think this is only about Catholics…or the Catholic Church, think again!
The Federal Government, for the first time in U.S. History, has mandated through the Dept. of Health and Human Services that virtually all employers, including the Catholic Church, will be forced to provide health insurance coverage that includes sterilization, abortion-inducing drugs, and contraception. The “religious exemption” is so narrow that almost no-one and no organization will qualify. For Catholic Hospitals to be exempt, for example, all of its employees must be Catholic and it must serve ONLY Catholics. There is not a Catholic hospital in the United States that I know of that meets this narrow qualification. Not even the Good Lord Himself and His apostles would have qualified.
Enough about the Catholic Church. What this law is really about is your First Ammendment Rights under the Constitution of the United States. If the Federal Government is allowed to force a church–any church–to engage in, support, and pay for activities which that church deems morally wrong, then it is embarking upon a path towards totalitarianism the likes of which this country has never seen.
Do you think this an exaggeration? Then consider this: regardless of whether you are for or against abortion…or for or against sterilization, do you think Communist China’s forced abortion and sterilization policies are just? No, I didn’t think so. Do you think it would be right to force a doctor to perform abortions and sterilizations against his conscience? Me neither. But what this HHS mandate does is force the Catholic Church to either provide contraceptives, abortifacient drugs, and sterilization against her moral conscience–or close the doors of her hospitals, schools, charitable institutions and face legal penalties.
“So what?” you might say. Maybe you’re not Catholic. Maybe you don’t agree with the Catholic Church’s teachings. Maybe you don’t even like the Catholic Church. So maybe you don’t care what happens to the Catholic Church.
It doesn’t matter. This isn’t about the Catholic Church. This is about the freedom of religion guaranteed in the First Ammendment. If the Federal Government is allowed to shred the Constitution and trample upon the Bill of Rights in this instance, what’s to stop it from doing the same when the target of its grasp for power is something you do care about?

Obama’s mandate to Catholics will blow up in his face. It was his BIGGEST mistake. He thinks it will divide us on an issue. That is not true. We stand UNITED, with millions of non-Catholics on our side.
His intention is to cause the Catholic Social Services to close down rather than cooperate with evil. That IS what will happen. Any faithful true service: hospitals, schools, orphanages, inner-city Missions, food distribution for the poor, colleges, the more than 15 million emergency room visits per year to Catholic hospitals would be headed to other hospitals already suffering from financial losses of emergency rooms. Emergency vehicles would also have increased travel times, driving up fatality rates, adult care and senior housing, the Catholic health care network, which also includes over 400 health care centers and over 1,500 specialized homes, over 135 national and hundreds more local Catholic lay organizations that serve the Church and provide services in communities throughout the United States, these services that the Church provides that is in communion with God, WILL close down rather than cooperate with evil. If it does not close down, then it is not truly Catholic, it is FALSE, Catholic in name only and thus will make deals with the devil.
This is the President’s plan. Divide and conquer. Once these charities close, he will have all those people under his control!
WE MUST REMAIN UNITED! GOD IS ON OUR SIDE! SPIRITUAL WARFARE IS HAPPENING RIGHT BEFORE OUR EYES! PRAY FOR GOD TO SPARE AMERICA! PUT ON THE ARMOR OF GOD AND PRAY! THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL GUIDE HEARTS THAT ARE TRULY ON FIRE WITH LOVE FOR GOD!
He has realized that he made a very big mistake with the contraception mandate. He has made a lot of people very hyped up and ready to fight him! Not just Catholics either. There are a lot of people who recognize this threat and will call him on it. He is back-pedalling and trying to do damage control!
You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT! It won’t stop with us Catholics! Obama and his administration are all fighting a war against religion in this country. This so called “compromise” isn’t a compromise at all. The insurance companies will still pass the cost along to us by raising our premiums which makes it so we are still violating our conscience! The entire thing MUST BE STOPPED! WE HAVE A VOICE AND THIS IS NOT OUR CHOICE!
